Kirby Drive Letter of Agreement
On September 21, 2007, Trees For Houston, the Upper Kirby Management District, the Upper Kirby TIRZ and the City of Houston's Public Works department reached an agreement relative to the widening of Kirby Drive. Click here to read a copy of the letter to Anne Clutterbuck outling the agreement.
Although Trees For Houston was not able to achieve our initial goal of not widening Kirby Drive; we did reach a compromise whereby the majority of the trees located along Kirby Drive from Westheimer to Richmond will be saved. Trees For Houston will be working closely with the TIRZ to ensure that every tree that can be saved will be protected during construction. Those trees that can not be saved will be either relocated or replaced 2 for 1, between 6" and 8" caliber each, in an approved species.
We wish to thank everyone who signed the petition and provided valuable input and support in our fight to save the trees. It is with such community support that our organization is able to achieve its goals of "planting, promoting and protecting trees." |
