Every year during the holiday season many employers send gifts to employees, customers and friends. This year and next we ask those who give these holiday gifts to consider giving trees in honor of these important people to be planted in Houston by the City of Houston.
This Gift of Trees program is part of a multi-organizational effort to plant over 1 million trees throughout the City within the next three years. This dynamic effort is called the “Million Trees + Houston” campaign.
Collectively, we have given thousands of trees over the last several years, and found that recipients greatly appreciate a gift that can endure for decades and make our city a much more attractive place to live and work.
This year and next, for the first $1.5 million in corporate donations, the City of Houston will match 1/3 of the cost of trees ordered as a part of this initiative.
Attached is a price list and ordering information. Those ordering trees will be sent the specific location and a photograph of those trees planted under this program.
The prime time for planting trees in this climate is December through February. We hope that you direct whoever is responsible for your holiday gift program to give this serious consideration, and to place your orders now. The deadline is November 15th. This will allow larger volume purchases and better planning for the tree planting. We are not requesting that you substitute this gift for some other annual gift for employees who expect their turkey!
By honoring and recognizing your employees, customers and friends with the “Gift of Trees,” you will be contributing to Houston’s plan for one million new trees planted in public spaces over the next three years. Imagine how Houston could look in a decade if all esplanades and areas alongside our thoroughfares were planted with trees!
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this request.
Sincerely,
