Roots and Shoots Sporting Clays Classic

On Friday, October 22, Trees For Houston will host our 2nd annual Roots and Shoots Sporting Clays Classic at the Greater Houston Gun Club. Last year, our inaugural shoot far exceeded our goal with 23 teams raising $56,000 for Trees For Houston. These dollars helped plant more than 1,500 trees across the Houston region. So gather a team of friends, colleagues and clients for a shotgun tourney among towering pines and broad oaks. For more information, contact Abby@treesforhouston.org.  Click here to view our invitation.

Become an Urban ForesTree Keeper Leader

How do you properly plant a tree in our urban environment? How do you become a tree leader in your community? Trees For Houston will provide answers to all of your tree planting questions at our Urban ForesTree Keeper classes held during October 2010. This three day basic training course will teach Houstonians to better care for Houston's trees. After receiving training in tree identification, site suitablity and proper planting techniques, class members will be certified Urban ForesTree Keepers. Clark Condon Associates & Environmental Design partner for trees

Clark Condon Associates, Inc., a local landscape architectural design firm, celebrated their 25th anniversary by planting 25, 100-gallon live oaks at Shearn Elementary. Clark Condon Associates, Inc. partnered with Environmental Design and Trees For Houston to plant these trees and 30-gallon crape myrtles around the campus. These trees provide much needed shade, enhance the entrance to the school and provide a healthier environment for children to learn. Environmental Design donated a portion of the trees and used their time and equipment to plant. On September 24, the staff and students at Shearn joined the Clark Condon Associates staff, Environmental Design and Trees For Houston for a ceremonial tree planting.
