Million Trees Plus Houston

Along with others, Mayor Bill White is leading the region’s governments, charities, citizens, and businesses to assist in an effort to plant over five years one million trees in Houston.

When he announced Gift of Trees, the mayor was joined by Richard Weekley, Weekley Development Co., Dan Wolterman, Greater Houston Partnership, Roger Plank, Apache Corporation, Clarence Cazalot, Jr., Marathon Oil Company.

During the holidays, many companies send gifts to employees, customers, and friends.  This year and next, we ask them to give trees in honor of these people to be planted in Houston by the City of Houston.

Collectively, we have given thousands of trees over the last several years and found that recipients appreciate a rememberance that endures for decades and makes our city prettier and healthier.

In 2008 and 2009, the City of Houston matched one-third of the cost of trees ordered with the first $1.5 million given by companies.

For a price list and ordering information, click here. You will be sent the location and a photograph of those trees planted by your gift.

The time for planting trees is December through March. Please consider giving trees and order now. This will allow lower costs and better planning.

Thank you
