As we plan for our upcoming planting season, we find ourselves rethinking the traditional ways we fulfill our mission due to COVID-19. In the short term, Trees For Houston is able to continue planting trees with staff while practicing social distancing.

This fall, we will be incorporating the following precautions to ensure safe and successful plantings:

  • Volunteers and TFH employees will be required to wear cloth face coverings and cover coughs and sneezes

  • Volunteers will be frequently reminded not to touch their face and to wash their hands

  • Hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol will be provided and administered

  • Volunteers and TFH employees will avoid close contact with others, maintaining 6 feet of physical distance from each other

  • TFH will stage each site with individual trees, shovels, and buckets to avoid cross-contamination

  • Volunteers who have any COVID-19 symptoms should stay home

  • Volunteers who are well but who have a sick family member at home should not attend

We are closely monitoring all of our operations in response to COVID-19. We remain flexible in our planning and are encouraged by new partners and projects as our resilient community navigates our new normal together.
